The Central Weather Administration (CWA) stated on Wednesday, July 17, that conditions next week will be conducive to the formation of a tropical storm.

According to Chia Hsin-hsing, Director of WeatherRisk, there is a 50% to 60% chance that a tropical storm or typhoon will form east of the Philippines on July 22 or 23. He added that Taiwan could be affected by the outer range of the storm from July 24.

Chia urged close monitoring of tropical systems next week before drawing conclusions about the strength and path of any potential storm. Southwest winds are likely to increase humidity next week, leading to brief but intense rain showers in Taiwan on July 22-23.

According to WeatherRisk, the likelihood of any tropical storm formation will become clearer after the weekend. Currently, it is not possible to predict whether the tropical depression will develop into Tropical Storm Gaemi.

The CWA mentioned that if there is no storm, temperatures will remain high, combined with the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms.
