The airport stated that the outage caused Delta and United Airlines to adjust several flights arriving at or departing from the airport on Saturday. The airport advised passengers to check with their airlines to confirm their itineraries.

The power outage, which affected airlines worldwide, forced some airlines operating at Taoyuan International Airport to use manual procedures for check-in and seat allocation on Friday. The airport noted that HK Express, Asia Air, Jeju Air, and Jetstar were among the affected airlines.

The outage also impacted National Taiwan University Hospital, although staff reported that the system was restored within 30 minutes. There were also reports from around the world of power outages affecting emergency services, banks, international border checkpoints, factories, retailers, and other locations.

The power outage affected Microsoft Windows users and started after the major cybersecurity company CrowdStrike released an update, according to the AP. On Saturday, CrowdStrike said the outage was not caused by a hacker attack, apologized, and stated that a fix was being implemented.
